Software Update (for your Brain)
Recently, I’ve been focused on adding some software updates to my mind in the form understanding how to use it to live a fulfilling life, here’s my (incomplete) analysis on the topic…
But first, I wanna talk about about my favorite hero/villain combo;
Batman and Joker.
Batman has a policy to “not kill” & Joker the crazy maniac is always pushing Batman’s buttons and finding ways for him to abandon his creed and “kill him” essentially…
They are equally balanced opponents, destined to battle it out till the end of time…
And with each battle, both of them become stronger, wiser, and more powerful…
Example two: Deepfakes
If you don’t know what a deepfake is, it’s essentially a highly realistic video of someone that is not real but the result of artificial intelligence…
But, what you may not know is how deepfakes are made and programmed to work.
There are actually TWO AI’s endlessly fighting it out, just like Batman and Joker…
One makes a ‘fake video’
The second one tries to spot ‘the fake’ and points out how it knows
Then the first one tries to ‘trick’ the second one, and the second one tries to ‘spot the trick’…
This goes on forever, until you get something that looks (somewhat) believable…
An endless battle of two opposing forces… While BOTH become more sophisticated…
Are you starting to get the hint? The deepest concepts cannot be explained, only FELT & experienced.
One more example & I’ll get to my point…
Example 3: Muscles
What happens to the muscles of someone whose in a coma or paralyzed?
→ they atrophy and become nonexistent
What happens to a person who puts MORE weight and resistance on their muscle (opposing force)?
→ They get stronger
The brain only responds to negative feedback. If something is working, there is no need to change or correct the action.
e.g. Body temperature
if the body temperature is correct = no change
too hot? sweat
too cold? shiver
The brain is a SELF-CORRECTING machine, only when and if the *right* goals are set…
Speaking from personal experience, if you have some self-destructive habits… then a part of you wants or enjoys the feeling to self-destruct ; you choose what “success” looks like to you — the rest is taken care of by the same force that helps you breathe, regulate body temperature, and heartbeat
…which means if my “goal” is to self-destruct, my brain will find a way to do so…
We spend 2/3 of our lives living this “automatic” existence, we don’t have to think much…
I am thinking the words on my head but I’m not actively thinking of moving each and every muscle on my finger to press the right key on my keyboard, it’s just happening automatically…
And, lately I’ve been using this gift to solve bigger and bigger problems…
whether I’m writing ads, or thinking about how I’ll ask this girl out…
I’m not trying, I’m kind of just letting it effortlessly come to me from my subconscious…
→ feeding it the right info and stepping away
I’m never deeply thinking about a solution to my problem, its almost like a “…” moment… and I have these moments ALL THE TIME
On walks
at the gym
washing dishes
in the shower
when I wake up
as I’m writing this
So trust your subconscious to give you the answers.
Don’t ‘force the answers’
Allow them to come to you on their own accord. (that’s usually how these things work)
So, what am I usually actively thinking about?
→ look at the negative feedback loops your avoiding (the things you keep thinking about and are occupying your mind, giving you REPEATED daily annoyances or irritation)
Ask “why” , get deeper into your true motivations.
→ these days, I keep my brain in ‘debug’ mode all the time…
I question my motivations, I question what I do, I question why i think something or feel the need to do something…
…and I keep asking “why” until I peel back the layers and understand my “true motivations”
And when I begin to understand myself, i’m able to “adjust and redirect” myself to where I need to go… while taking one step at a time in that direction
I can’t be sedated or brainwashed because I’m almost always doing daily maintenance and cleaning to get rid of the stuff thats clogging up my thinking brain…
Especially those thoughts that you catch yourself ‘recurring’ often,
Deliberately process them out
Keep working through your ‘negative feedback loops’ that tell you you’re off course.
Put one step in front of the other towards your goals
AND, trust your automatic brain to give you the answers
everything begins from within
Until Tomorrow,
Shakoor
